Guarantees of origin
Suppliers and traders may transfer and cancel guarantees of origin.
Transactions related to the transfer and cancellation of electricity guarantees of origin are carried out in the guarantees of origin registry within the Renewable Energy Information System. For access, the trader account must be opened in the registry. More detailed information on the registration process is available here.
Main rules for the transfer and cancellation of guarantees of origin
Guarantees of origin for renewable electricity, nuclear electricity, and fossil-based electricity may be transferred and cancelled.
Electricity guarantees of origin may be transferred within 12 months after the end of the production period.
Guarantees of origin may be transferred both within the register between different accounts and to other registries connected via the AIB Hub. Further information on the AIB Hub is available here, and information on applicable fees is available here.
Electricity guarantees of origin may be cancelled within 18 months after the end of the production period.
Guarantees of origin may only cancelled for the purpose of verifying consumption in the current calendar year and, until 31 March, also for verifying consumption during the previous calendar year.
Guarantees of origin may only be cancelled to verify electricity consumption that has taken place in Estonia. Ex-domain cancellations are not allowed.
